Raise your hand high if there is no shame in your pumpkin spice game. We welcome you to the club, because we’re pro-spice around here (haters, the back button is at the top left).
Being pro-spice doesn’t just mean that that we take selfies in plaid Patagonia fleece and yoga pants all day (it’s still 90+ degrees out, if you’re doing this in Florida, what are you doing?). Aka, we’re not pro-spice because we’re basic. We’re PSL supporters because we believe in the freedom to flavor your world, no matter how sweet or overly-marketed it is. We have no qualms about it and neither does Starbucks.
It’s reported that each fall they rake in an estimated $100 million each fall with the PSL. With those kinds of numbers can we all just agree that it’s a cultural phenomenon that needs to be embraced? Sure, there is no logical reason that pumpkin should go with coffee any ways, but because pumpkin is a symbol for fall feels, cozy down time and fire-pit gatherings, we stand behind the pumpkin.
You know who else approves of the pumpkin spice message? Kahlúa and Baileys. Yes, they are bar cart staples, but we’re talking about their pumpkin spice renditions. Add them to your PSL or make our recipe below and you’ll be on your way to PSB (pumpkin spice bliss). Haters, if you’re still here, we knew you’d come around ♡.
Our mini version of the PSL makes it even more desirable. Who doesn’t love mini versions?
1 ounce Kahlúa Liqueur
2 ounces Baileys Pumpkin Spice Irish Cream
1 ounce milk
Whipped cream and mini straws, garnish
- In a shaker with ice, combine Bailey’s Pumpkin Spice, Kahlua and milk. Shake well.
- Strain mix into shot glass and top with whipped cream and a mini straw.
