Scotch Month

There's No Shave November and Nitro November. It's Movember and Aviation History Month and Peanut Butter Lovers Month. And all that's great and all, but what we're really excited about is Scotch Month. That's right: November at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits is Scotch Month.

All month long we'll be celebrating the complexity and flavor of our favorite Scotch whiskies and the regions from which they hail. Check back on this blog every Sunday for a new Scotch cocktail recipe, click here for a quick reference guide to the most famed Scotch regions and the flavors they lend to whisky, and visit our stores later this month for a sampling of a few Scotches (details on those events can be found here).

And while you're gearing up for a month of Scotch sippin', we'd like to introduce you to a few of our favorite bottles. Tell us what Scotch you'll be drinking this month in the comments below!

GLENFIDDICH SINGLE MALT 12 YEAR

This Speyside Scotch is a classic for Scotch drinkers. Aged in American and European oak, Glenfiddich 12 Year shows light spice and floral flavors with a sweet, oily finish. Speyside Scotches are characterized by their mellow, sweet and fruity palates, and Glenfiddich nails the style.

BUNNAHABHAIN SINGLE MALT 12 YEAR

Don't let this dark, squat bottle fool you. Inside is a gorgeously golden Scotch that is smooth and aromatic. This Islay beauty is great for novice Scotch drinkers. Bunnahabhain offers a lightly peated palate so as not to overpower or ward off those who are just starting to fall for Scotch. It's soft and balanced with a touch of sweetness.

JOHNNIE WALKER BLACK LABEL BLENDED MALT 12 YEAR

Did you know Johnnie Walker was a grocer before he started making incredible whisky? Keep that in your cap for your next trivia night. Back to the whisky: If Bunnahabhain was too light for you, try this smoky blended Scotch from Johnnie Walker. Deep and complex, this Scotch is iconic and perfect for sharing during the holiday season.

LAPHROAIG SINGLE MALT 10 YEAR

Another Islay Scotch, Laphroaig offers notes of vanilla and oak to complement the peaty vein that runs through this strong Scotch. There is a touch of sea salt present before you reach the long, warm finish. A distillery that has been around for more than 200 years, Laphroaig makes Scotches renowned for their richness.
