Spring is in full swing, and what better way to celebrate than with a cocktail party! This French Hammermill cocktail will leave you wanting more with every taste of elderflower liqueur.
If you don’t know what elderflower liqueur is or haven’t tried St.-Germain, here is a quick overview of this popular liqueur. St.-Germain is made from elderflower, a small flower grown on the elder plant. The flower blooms only for a couple of weeks in the spring. St. -Germain producers take the flowers back to the village by bicycle (yes, a human-powered bicycle) where the flowers are laid out to begin production of the liqueur. Once the liqueur is ready, each bottle is then individually numbered to show what year the flowers were picked. St.-Germain describes the flavor of the liqueur as a combination of “pear, peach and grapefruit, yet none of them exactly.” Once you try a sip of St.-Germain in this martini, you’ll be hooked.
Combine Hammermill and St.-Germain in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a martini glass. Top with Champagne and garnish with a pear slice.
