In Wine, Merlot, Red Wines

This is the final installment of a five part series on The Prisoner Wine Company.

Thorn bottle

With five wines in a sought-after collection, the team behind the scenes is constantly busy working to source the highest quality grapes throughout California--partnerships with growers like the Antinori family who supply some of the Merlot used in Thorn, make this process an exciting venture. Though each year presents different challenges, the wines in The Prisoner Wine Company portfolio are known not only for their approachability, but for their consistent flavor profiles. It's a feat not easily accomplished in the wine world.

The final wine in The Prisoner Wine Company collection is Thorn Merlot, a bodacious red with black fruit, spice and mocha on the nose. Boasting flavors of black plum, toasted oak and hints of anise, Thorn is a juicy addition to the already incredible line of wines in which it belongs. Velvety tannins make for an approachable palate courtesy of the Napa Valley grapes the team at The Prisoner Wine Company sourced from small Merlot vineyards hidden among the rows and rows of Cabernet and Chardonnay that dominate the valley.

While Thorn is ready to drink now, the wine will stand beautifully for the next 3-5 years. But if you can't wait (and we don't blame you), pair this succulent red with aged cheddar, hamburgers or grilled steak with caramelized onions.

All five wines can be found at select ABC Fine Wine & Spirits retailers throughout Florida, as well as online at abcfws.com.
