Happy Eclipse Day!
At about 2:30pm today, most people across the continental US will be able to witness partial darkness as the moon slips in front of the sun. There are two things you need in order to fully experience the eclipse:
- Eclipse glasses
- Killer cocktails, a beer bucket, or some wine
We can help with the latter. Start your eclipse party with a stop at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits for a few of these eclipse-themed libations.
7 Moons Red Blend
This Napa Valley red blend shows an array of red fruit, chocolate and spice on a smooth palate. With a series of moons on the label, this wine is perfectly themed for your late afternoon celebration.
Blue Moon is a no-brainer. This easy-drinking witbier is a refreshing crowd-pleaser with the right name for the occasion. Garnish with an orange wheel, like usual, but for this party, add a lime wheel in front. You know, for a partial eclipse effect.
Solar Eclipse Cocktail
What's better for eclipse parties than tequila cocktails? Try this crafty sipper for an interesting addition to your usual spread.
1.5 oz Patron XO Cafe
.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.5 oz Simple Syrup
4 oz Italian Orange Soda
Orange Slice, for garnish
Fill a highball glass with ice and add all liquid ingredients. Garnish with half a slice of orange.
Mount Gay Eclipse Rum
From Barbados, this rum is smooth with notes of banana and vanilla that fill the palate and follow through to the finish. Mount Gay Eclipse Rum is a sipping rum that should be served neat or poured over an ice sphere.
Any of these mason jar bottles will suit your eclipse party needs. Try garnishing with fruit or mixing with a subtle soda to temper the heat from the spirit.
Because all of the action will be happening up above, grab a bottle of Skyy Vodka to mix into your favorite classic cocktails.
Visit you local ABC Fine Wine & Spirits to browse our aisles of wines, spirits and beers. We'll be there every step of the way to help you plan any last minute libations for your solar eclipse viewing party.
Cheers and don't forget your glasses--both the solar eclipse and the cocktail!
